My growing expertise and business

My business continues to grow and thrive. I now have 16 students.

Thanks to a homeschooling Mom who referred me to a website called Idaho Home Learning Academy. It caters specifically to people who homeschool their children through the state of Idaho.

They offer free funding for extracurricular, such as music. So I am now a vendor for IHLA. In doing so, I acquired four more students. All homeschool. That means I get to do more of my work during the day which I love.

It interferes with my family life a little, but not nearly as much as what it would if I had “traditional” students.

I acquired 4 new piano students and 2 violin students. Both of the violin students are brother and sister. They are already doing quite well even though they have both played less than a year. It’s fun having beginner, intermediate and advanced violin students. I get to use my expertise, literally fine-tuning, (pun intended) their skills.

I also discovered, even though two of my new piano students play quite well (also siblings) they don’t know bass clef notes. so we’ve started more theory, including flash cards.

I definitely find the longer I teach, the more I learned that a lot of teachers only touch on theory even private instructors. So it is my goal and mission to make sure that these kids know their theory so that they can read notes, tell what key is in how to count using tempo and rhythm, etc.
